In 1996, the Sharp offices in Easton, Pocomoke City, Salisbury, and Chincoteague popped up.
Also in 1996, Chesapeake Utilites constructed the first underground piped propane system. This was for the Plantations Development in Lewes, DE and served 375 homes.
In 2002, we needed to provide the conveniences of a metered delivery system to communities where natural gas was not available. And so, the Community Gas Systems division of Sharp Energy was formed.
A Sharp Energy propane start-up was initiated in Chester County, PA. Office is located in Honey Brook, PA.
We expanded the Sharp Energy community gas system strategy to Pennsylvania.
In 2007, Sharp Energy community gas systems installed over 2,600 meters for newly constructed homes between 2007 and 2011. This was an average of over 500 per year.
Sharp Energy acquired the operating assets of Virginia LP Gas, Inc. based in Exmore, VA. As a result, a propane start-up was initiated in Cecil County, MD.
Sharp Energy started a location in the Poconos, PA.
As of January 2012, the combined storage capacity for all active CGS communities exceeded 622,000 gallons of propane.
In 2016, Sharp started a new propane supplier location in Anne Arundel, MD.
Sharp Energy introduced a new charity bobtail to the Community, Nemours, Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children.
Sharp Energy acquired the propane sales and delivery business of R.F. Ohl, located in Lehighton, PA.
In 2019, Sharp started a new propane supplier location in Mattaponi, VA.
Sharp Energy acquired the propane operations of Boulden Brothers located in Newark, DE.
Sharp Energy introduced a new charity bobtail to the Community, sponsoring the Ronald McDonald House of DE.
Sharp Energy acquired the propane options of Western Natural Gas, located in Jacksonville, FL.
